FAQS

STILL UNSURE? HERE'S SOME COMMON QUESTIONS WE GET... 

Is it expensive?
Well that depends on how much you value yourself, your happiness and the desire you have to change. Expensive means that you don't see the value in the thing you are buying, just the same as the term cheap, but it makes you feel more uncomfortable. When you meet with your coach they will give you the price plan, but they will never try to push you in to signing up, that choice has to be made by you, otherwise you won't succeed. Our membership starts from just £45 a month/ 1 training session a week. £57 a month/ 2 training sessions a week or £77 a month/ unlimited training session a week. (You can cross train arts, mix and match or just focus on BJJ).
Do I need to be fit?
Absolutely not, but you can be! We don't care if you're just coming off the sofa for the first time or if you're a martial artist, we will meet you where you are are at, set targets with you that are meaningful and powerful and help you achieve them.
Is it appropriate for older people?
Yes, very much so. Just ask David one of members when you come in, he joined when he was 77 years old and he is now still going strong at 82!
Do I have to have experience?
No. Just a desire to learn, practice and communicate with your coach, so they can help you improve in a way that suits you.
Do I have to wear a uniform?
Not to start with. Our classes are split in to wearing a gi (jacket) and no-gi (t-shirt or rash top). While we do have our own branded items which are cheaper than most you'll find on the market and better quality, you can wear your own training gear.
How do the belts work & grading?
Belt grading in Jiu Jitsu is different for children and adults, unlike most other martial arts. The adult's grades are white, blue, purple, brown and black. Gradings, where people attain their next belt are free in Jiu Jitsu, and held every 3-6 months, usually alongside a special course or seminar open to all students. The grade is awarded via a combination of time spent training, skill development, and attitude.
